Commercial Vehicle (CV) application demonstrating optimised performance over a single speed and supporting the customer product strategy to move into the electrified driveline sector.
Project Objective
- Demonstrate a lightweight efficient mid-size truck eAxle for a Tier 1 creating a new eAxle capability.
DSD Responsibilities
- Define targets and requirements.
- ePOP Architecture Optimisation to meet fleet cycle targets.
- Integrate and system engineer the selected eAxle 2 speed concept to demonstrate the technology, including the electro-mechanics and the control system using AMT modules from DSD ‘Infinite Control’ software.
Outcome and Customer Benefits
- Evaluation of motor, inverter and transmission technologies for establishing the most suitable electrification strategy for the truck.
- eAxle A-sample DVP testing completed, with technology proven and transferred, supporting the Tier 1 strategy to become an eAxle supplier.
Timeline
- ePOP based eAxle architecture definition – 8 weeks.
- A sample eAxle detail design and release – 20 weeks.
- A sample manufacturing, test – 35 weeks.
